What is The Boneless Rib?
The Boneless Rib, a free, weekly e-mail newsletter and website, is the guide to what’s fun, new, and exciting in Southern New Hampshire — from great sales, food, entertainment and style to gadgets, books, beauty, and more. It’s like getting an e-mail from the cool kids in high school asking you to hang out with them…and they aren’t setting you up. Like an e-mail from your hip older sister that lives in Manhattan about a new restaurant you just need to check out… the sister that thinks your new jeans are behind the times.
The Boneless Rib is the creation of Jason&Becky Chagnon, who in 2007, left Boston and bought a home in Spofford, New Hampshire. Still fans of the city, they were surprised by the appealing list of options they had in their new location. Only one thing was missing… a source of information about the restaurants, sales, stores and the activities they didn’t want to miss. Not one to pass up an opportunity, they started sharing an online newsletter with a young, active and growing audience.
What is a Boneless Rib?
In the realm of writing and publishing, the word “bones” refers to the fundamental plan or design of a publication. For instance, the bones of a book may refer to the plot. While The Boneless Rib certainly has a design and purpose (we’ll get to that later), we felt the simple fact it is not published in printed form gave it a boneless feel.
Beyond making you think of food, the word “rib” is meant to suggest shape, support, and structure. Our purpose is to support your choices in how you spend your free time and hard-earned money.
A rib, of course, can also mean a teasing remark or joke. A rib is a bone after all, so how could it be boneless?
The Boneless Rib publishes two weekly editions, which are all delivered through e-mail: The Rib Eye (our eye on the week ahead, including features on Food&Drink, Fashion, Arts&Culture, House & Home, Kids and Travel) and The Sales Rack (a list of weekly sales and events). We also have special editions released throughout the year including, Go Green (the “how-to” for the eco-conscious), Spring Gift Guide (gifts are better when they are not expected), Career Handbook and more.
